Cyndi Parker - Person of the
Week
By Paul M. Thompson, CAE
It’s all about family for Cyndi
Parker, the energetic owner of the Professional
Title Agency.
Whether you’re talking about
her husband Clint Parker, her five children, four
grandchildren or her hundreds of title insurance
clients, Cyndi treats family members with
tender-loving care.
“Our business is all about
relationships,” says Cyndi, whose agency has offices
in Ormond Beach, New Smyrna Beach, Palm Coast and
Port Orange. “We have worked very hard to build the
trust of our clients, and in the process, I’ve been
fortunate enough to make many lasting friendships.”
Builders might be considered
Cyndi’s most special friends. While she also serves
the general real estate community and consumers, her
closest ties are with the men and women who produce
new homes in Volusia and Flagler counties.
“I’ve always been amazed and
impressed that builders can be so competitive and so
fiercely independent and yet they work together so
well for the benefit of the entire industry,” says
Parker. “I think they know they must be cohesive to
be effective. I really admire their ability to pull
together to get things done.”
In addition to serving builders
in the important area of title insurance, Cyndi
gives generously of her time, talents and money in
support of her Volusia HBA and the Florida Home
Builders Association.
She began her service on the
Volusia HBA Board of Directors in 1997 and has
served as an FHBA Director for the past five years.
She’s been her local Associate Vice President and
Associate of the Year and recently represented Area
III as the Associate Vice President on the FHBA
Executive Committee. Earlier this month, she became
a Million Dollar Circle contributor to the FHBA
Foundation.
Sue Darden, the Executive Vice
President of the Volusia HBA, has seen Cyndi’s
industry contributions first hand. “There is not a
program or an event that we put on that Professional
Title is not a sponsor,” says an appreciative
Darden. “Cyndi and her staff are wonderful members.
They jump in with ideas, volunteers, and financial
support for all new concepts we develop. Cyndi even
serves as ‘Ms. Claus’ at our Christmas Party and is
the master shopping queen when it comes time to shop
for Christmas presents.”
In many ways, Cyndi’s devotion
is a gift to an industry that’s been good to her for
the past 34 years. She began her career as an
abstractor and opened her own agency after 12 years
in the field. In 1990, her brother Buddy joined her
as a partner, and today, they lead the oldest
family-owned title company in the area, and one of
the largest in the nation.
Even after a long and rewarding
career, Cyndi stills loves the challenge. “I perform
title examinations for all four offices, and daily
put out title fires,” she says. “I find great
satisfaction in using my years of experience as a
roadmap to aid in finding solutions to title
problems. I like to close that ‘uncloseable’ deal.”
Cyndi helped close one of the
biggest deals of her life when her father, mentor
and hero – Reid Hughes – sold his oil
distributorship to Hughes Energy Petroleum in 1986.
“The deal was 12 months in the making and it took
three full days to sign the closing papers,” recalls
Cyndi.
Her father and recently-retired
American Pioneer Title executive Barb Allen were two
of the most significant influences of Cyndi’s
professional and personal life.
“My Dad taught me to work hard,
always tell the truth, and have integrity,” says
Cyndi. “Barb gave me a vision of what I could be and
never quit believing in me. Now, at this stage of my
career, I hope I can do that for others.”
Rest assured, Cyndi Parker is
doing more than her share to help others… and the
Florida home building industry. |
